Victorville, San Bernardino County
George Air Force Base trained fighter pilots outside Victorville from World War II until it closed in 1992. The runways now serve Southern California Logistics Airport, where the dry desert air makes it a good place to park and maintain airliners. Rows of stored jets can be seen from the surrounding roads.
